Weapon cache discovered in Afghan district

Afghan forces backed by NATO-led troops found a weapon cache in Naw Zad district of Helmand province 555 km south of Afghan capital Kabul on Thursday, a press release of NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) issued here Friday said.

"In Now Zad district, Helmand province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force discovered a weapons cache during an operation yesterday," the press release added.

It also said that the weapon cache consisted of three rocket- propelled grenades, multiple improvised explosive device components, two anti-personnel mines, 20 flares, and 1,400 rounds of AK-47 ammunition.

All of the weapons were destroyed on the site and no casualties or damages have been reported as a result of the operation, the press release further said.
