Rockets explode near Afghan Loya Jirga venue, 1 injured
At least three rockets were heard whistling to the venue of Afghanistan's ongoing Loya Jirga and explosions followed at around 8 a.m. (0330 GMT) on Thursday morning, injuring at least one person, witnesses near the site told Xinhua.
The four-day Loya Jirga or traditional grand assembly of tribal elders, lawmakers and government functionaries opened Wednesday to discuss the proposed strategic partnership with the U.S. and Afghan government-initiated peace talks with Taliban militants.
One civilian sustained injuries in one of the blast, a police official said, adding investigation is underway.
