3 terrorists detained in S.Afghanistan
Afghan security forces during operations captured three terrorist in southern Helmand province, the provincial government said in a statement on Monday.

"Personnel of Afghan Directorate of Security (NDS), in coordination with police, during operations in Khoshkabe area in provincial capital Lashkar Gah captured three terrorist commanders named Juma Khan, Mullah Abdul and Mullah Naik Mohammad over the past four days," said the statement.

"One of these captured commanders Juma Khan is the person who has intimidated people in Lashkar Gah and have been giving death warnings to government workers and teachers by sending warning and night letters," it said, adding a handful of weapons and copies of night letters were also found in the raids.

Helmand's Lashkar Gah, 555 km south of capital city of Kabul, was among seven areas where Afghan army and police took full control of security from NATO and U.S. forces in July this year.

In the second phase of security transition process announced by Afghan government on Sunday, Afghan forces will take security responsibility of Nawa, Nad Ali and Marja districts of Helmand province from NATO and U.S. forces in near future.

In second phase of the process Afghan army and police will take full control of security of six Afghan provinces, seven provincial capitals as well as more than 40 districts in near future, parts of security transition process which will run to 2014 when Afghanistan will take over the full leadership of its own security duties from U.S. and NATO forces.
